The Arrival sounds like a beautiful thing - I hope it's at Border's so I can take a look. Have you read The Maldonado Miracle, speaking of ESOL books? I read that with my intermediate-level adult class, and they LOVED it.
Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. There's a great Aliki book along those lines. Something like Painted Words/Spoken Memories. A fictionalized version of her immigrant experience. And I'm on goodreads: randolph dot jim at gmail dot com
