Technology Is Your Friend

At least it's my friend and I wanted to share some interesting easy-to-use technology that can really help teachers. First of all, I'm loving Jott (jott.com). It's free. You just type in your email and your cell number, they give you an 800 number, and you're good to go. Go do what, you ask? I don't know about you, but I have about a thirty minute commute and I often think of things I want to remember while driving. You know how I say write everything down? Well, don't do it while you're driving or you will crash. And I'm too impatient (and forgetful to wait for a stoplight. So now I can whip I my cell, punch in Jott's number (speed dial!) and a voice comes on, "Who do you want to Jott?" "Me, I say." Then wait for the beep. Then I say something like "Don't forget to blog about Jott." By the time I get to work I have an email from Jott that says "Don't forget to blog about Jott." Now, yes, sometimes it doesn't exactly transcribe it correctly (which can be kinda funny) but there's always a link to the actual recording. I love it!

More technology coming soon (wikis, readers, blogs, mozy, meetomatic, etc.)

I love Jott. I set up a second Jott recipient called "my blog", and directed it to the Blogger e-mail posting address.

I call Jott and answer "my blog", and the Jott e-mail goes to my Blogger drafts folder.
